Amy Drake, Handbell Director
Amy Drake has directed the “Joyful Ringers,” St. John’s handbell choir, since 1996. She’s responsible for picking out music, organizing weekly rehearsals, and recruiting new members. Amy just received her teaching degree, and is hoping to move on from part time substitute jobs to a full time position somewhere in the New Athens area. Like her husband Tom, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to music, and taking her turn at the mike as part of “Common Lot.”
Steve Jackson, “Common Lot” Director
Steve Jackson has been part of the St. John music staff since 2003. He directs “Common Lot,” the St. John praise band.
Steve’s duties as director of “Common Lot” include playing lead guitar, trying to stay on top of the contemporary Christian music scene, scheduling and running rehearsals, and helping band members track down music for numbers they want to perform. “Common Lot” performs two Sundays each month (usually the first and third) at 9:15 a.m., during contemporary worship.
Joyce Dudeck, Quarterly Choir Director
St. John's also has a "Quarterly Choir" that participates in worship around major church holidays. Volunteers gather for a week or two prior to their performance for rehearsals, and then participate in the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The Quarterly Choir is directed by Joyce Dudeck, our "retired" organist and director of music.
